Ardmore 12 year Highlands Single Malt 54.1% – The Single Malts of Scotland 2022

A powerful and rarely seen bottling from the Scottish Highlands, Ardmore 12 Year Old Highlands Single Malt 54.1% from The Single Malts of Scotland is a whisky for connoisseurs, collectors and enthusiasts seeking depth, smoke and intensity. Only 245 bottles from cask #708026 make this 2022 release a coveted gem in any collection – and an experience in the glass that lingers long after the last sip.

The whisky was distilled on December 1, 2009 and bottled on February 24, 2022 after 12 years of aging. It comes at cask strength of 54.1%, giving an intense yet elegant profile. Ardmore is known for its peat-smoked style in the Highland region, and here the distillery delivers a great balance of smoke, sweetness and spice.

On the nose, you’re greeted by smoked malt with a distinct Highland character, quickly followed by spicy oak, caramel and fudge. There’s a deeper sweetness in the background – like dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla – that gives the aroma an inviting complexity.

The taste is rich and intense with soft, well-integrated smoke notes. The dark sweetness of chocolate and caramelized sugar plays nicely with vanilla and warm spices. The texture is velvety smooth, while the finish is built by a light peppery heat, peat and oak that combine to create a long and satisfying finish.

Tip: Enjoy undiluted for maximum depth – or add a few drops of water and watch the layers of sweetness, spice and smoke unfold. This is a whisky that rewards patience and attention.
