Bertha’s Revenge is based on surplus whey from Irish dairy farming, distilled into a pure and silky smooth alcohol. Natural spring water and a carefully selected blend of both locally sourced and cultivated botanicals are added. The result is a gin full of character, where classic juniper meets spicy and fruity nuances – elegantly balanced and with a warm, inviting style.

The texture is remarkably soft and round, almost creamy, making it ideal for both pure gin experiences and exclusive cocktails. It works great in a classic gin & tonic, but also shows its full potential in more complex drinks.

History of the house

The name Bertha’s Revenge is a tribute to Bertha – a legendary cow from Sneem in County Kerry. Bertha died in 1993 at the age of 48, becoming the world’s oldest cow. During her long life, she gave birth to 39 calves and became a symbol of fertility, strength and endurance. To honor her memory, she was “brought back in spirit” through this very special gin.

The distillery is based at Ballyvolane House – a name that translates from Gaelic as “the place of leaping heifers”.
