Château de Ferrand Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2017 – Classic Bordeaux with depth, power and elegance

Château de Ferrand Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2017 is an impressive Bordeaux that combines classic French elegance with intense fruit and remarkable structure. A wine with great personality, created for those who want an authentic Saint-Émilion with both finesse and strength. This is a Grand Cru Classé that elevates any wine experience – whether enjoyed with gastronomy or as an exclusive glass in good company.

The 2017 vintage shows Château de Ferrand’s style with great precision. The wine is rich and concentrated, yet balanced and vibrant. A serious Bordeaux that already delivers great pleasure, but also has great ageing potential for the patient wine lover.

The wine is composed of 86% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. This elegant blend offers a silky mouthfeel, deep fruit character and aromatic complexity, with each grape variety contributing its own distinctive character.

A vintage of natural strength and concentration

2017 was a challenging year in Bordeaux, but Château de Ferrand’s high-altitude vineyards on the Saint-Hippolyte plateau performed exceptionally well. The natural protection from frost ensured high-quality grapes – small, concentrated and full of aroma.

A mild spring season, a dry summer and an early harvest resulted in a wine with intense fruit, great structure and a freshness that gives elegance and suppleness. A harmonious wine where ripe fruit, vibrant acidity and rounded tannins blend beautifully.

Tasting notes

Color: Deep and intense red with elegant garnet and purple hues.

Aroma: Complex and inviting bouquet with floral notes, ripe red berries, fine spices and a fresh hint of Cabernet Franc.

Taste: Full-bodied, rounded and harmonious with layer upon layer of juicy berries, subtle spice and a long, silky finish.

Overall impression: A structured and elegant Saint-Émilion with a classic expression and great balance. Perfect with beef, game, lamb, hearty stews and mature cheeses – or as a luxurious glass on its own.

The history of the house

Founded in the early 1700s, Château de Ferrand sits majestically on the famous Saint-Hippolyte plateau in Saint-Émilion. Today, the château is owned by the Baron Bich family who, with great respect for tradition and an uncompromising focus on quality, have brought the property into the modern wine world.

The unique combination of clay and limestone soil gives the wines their characteristic freshness, structure and elegance. Today, Château de Ferrand is recognized as one of the most stable and quality-conscious Grand Cru Classé producers in the region.
