Château de Villars Fontaine 2009 “Le Haut du Village”
– A mature Burgundy with depth and soul

Are you looking for a ready-to-drink, rarely aged red Burgundy that exudes quality and history? Then Château de Villars Fontaine 2009 “Le Haut du Village” Hautes Côtes de Nuits is just what you need. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this wine comes straight from the heart of Burgundy – close to the iconic villages of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges – where some of the world’s most sought-after wines are born.

Tasting Notes – Elegant, Vibrant, and Fruity
Château de Villars Fontaine 2009 opens with a fresh and seductive fruit profile offering ripe cherries, raspberries, red grapes, and a hint of currants. The wine strikes a perfect balance between juicy richness and light acidity, making it ideal as an aperitif or paired with lighter dishes like poultry, charcuterie, or firm cheeses.
There’s no heavy oak influence here – just pure fruit, minerality, and the classic finesse of Burgundy. Light on its feet, yet with depth and structure. A brilliant example of how mature Pinot Noir from higher-altitude vineyards can deliver pure, refined, and honest pleasure.

Why Choose a Wine from Château de Villars Fontaine / Domaine de Montmain?
What makes this producer – now known as Domaine de Montmain – truly unique is their philosophy of late release. Unlike most modern wineries, they hold back their wines in the cellar until they are mature and ready to be enjoyed. This means that as a wine lover, you get a bottle with optimal aging and maturity straight from the source – without having to wait years in your own cellar.

About the Winery – A Hidden Gem of Burgundy
Founded in 1984, the estate sits atop the picturesque village of Villars-Fontaine, where the vineyards stretch across 30 hectares in the beautiful Hautes Côtes de Nuits area between Dijon and Beaune. Here, nature, altitude, and limestone-rich soil create ideal conditions for both Pinot Noir and Aligoté.
The estate was formerly known as Château de Villars Fontaine, but following a strategic rebranding, newer vintages are now marketed under the name Domaine de Montmain. However, the old name lives on through older, mature bottles like this 2009 – and that’s exactly what makes it so special.
