Domaine Louis Latour Hospices de Beaune Premier Cru 2020

This wine comes from the famous vineyards of Hospices de Beaune – an institution with roots dating back to 1443. Here, centuries of tradition meet classic winemaking craftsmanship, creating a Pinot Noir with depth, finesse and a very special history behind it.

Hospices de Beaune was founded as a charitable institution for the sick and elderly and has received vineyards as donations over the centuries. Today, the institution has some of the most interesting plots in Burgundy. Every year, the wines from these fields are sold at the famous Hospices de Beaune auction, where négociants and producers can buy barrels and mature the wines in their own cellars.

This wine is made from Pinot Noir from three different Premier Cru parcels in Beaune. The combination gives the wine both complexity and depth. The vinification follows classic Burgundy traditions. The grapes are fermented in open fermentation tanks, which emphasizes the purity and structure of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in lightly used oak barrels.

After barrel aging, the wine is bottled and further aged in Louis Latour’s historic cellars. Here the wine rests until release, giving it extra balance and complexity. The result is a classic Burgundy with finesse, deep fruit and elegant structure.

• Nose: Complex nose of red berries, cherries and raspberries. Nuances of spices, damp forest floor, dried herbs and toasted almonds.
• Palate: Elegant and well-balanced with juicy red fruit, subtle spices and fine minerality.
• Finish: Long and refined finish with notes of blueberry and dark chocolate.
