Domaine Louis Latour Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru “Les Quatre Journaux” 2016

One of Burgundy’s most distinguished addresses – and a wine that speaks directly to the collector and connoisseur. Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2016 from Domaine Louis Latour is the epitome of elegance, depth and classic Burgundian grandeur. This is a Grand Cru with history, precision and a seductive silky smooth character that only the greatest parcels in Côte de Nuits can deliver.

The Latour family has owned part of Romanée-Saint-Vivant since December 1898. The field “Les Quatre Journaux” is located in the southwest of the appellation, just a few meters from the legendary Romanée-Conti estate. The name refers to an old Burgundian unit of measurement – one “Journal” is equivalent to approximately 0.4 hectares. Although the original purchase included the entire parcel, half of it was later sold. Today, Maison Louis Latour owns 0.8 hectares of this outstanding Grand Cru parcel.

The 2016 vintage in Burgundy is known for its balance and structure. The combination of the terroir’s chalky soils and careful vinification yields a wine with impressive aromatic complexity and a structure that promises a long life in the cellar.

Tasting notes:
The nose opens with intense and refined aromas of red cherry, raspberry and violet, accompanied by fine spicy nuances and discreet cask. In the mouth, the wine is velvety and elegant with silky tannins. The aromatic depth develops layer upon layer, culminating in a persistent, powerful and harmonious finish.

This is a wine for the big moments – perfect for exclusive dinners, game dishes, veal or mature cheeses. At the same time, it is an obvious candidate for long-term cellaring for the serious Burgundy enthusiast.
