Gaja Conteisa Barolo 2018 – iconic Barolo from legendary producer Gaja

Gaja Conteisa Barolo 2018 is one of the most sought-after wines from Piedmont and an impressive expression of the elegance and power of the Nebbiolo grape. It comes from the world-famous producer Gaja, which for generations has set the standard for top-class modern Italian wine.

Conteisa is made from carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes from the prestigious Cerequio estate. This historic vineyard is located between the towns of La Morra and Barolo in the heart of the Langhe. The area is known for producing some of the most elegant and complex Barolo wines.

The name “Conteisa” derives from the Piedmontese word for “battle”. It refers to a historical territorial conflict between La Morra and Barolo over the ownership of this particular vineyard. Today, the field is known as one of the best terroirs in all of Barolo.

The 2018 vintage offered good growing conditions in Piedmont. A cool and damp winter was followed by a warm but balanced summer. This produced grapes with great ripeness, fresh acidity and great aromatic depth. The result is a Barolo with finesse, structure and great ageing potential.

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels where it develops complexity and elegance. The long maturation rounds the tannins and gives the wine its characteristic depth.

Gaja Conteisa Barolo 2018 is a wine for collectors and enthusiasts. It combines classic Barolo style with Gaja’s precision and finesse. The wine can be enjoyed now after decanting, but will also develop beautifully over many years in the cellar.
