Glenfarclas Family Casks 1998 #2937 – Speyside Single Malt Whisky

Glenfarclas Family Casks 1998 #2937 is a powerful and uncompromising single cask bottling for the serious whisky enthusiast. Distilled in 1998 and bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.2%, this whisky delivers an intense and honest expression of Glenfarclas’ classic sherried style.

The whisky is matured in a traditional sherry butt, which has given it depth, richness and a distinctive complexity. With just 616 bottles in total, this is an extremely limited bottling, with each bottle representing a unique moment in the distillery’s history.

Like all Family Casks bottlings, this whisky is bottled without cold filtration and without added color. The result is an intense, concentrated and unadulterated taste experience – exactly as it left the cask.

Tasting notes

Nose: Big and explosive with deep notes of raisins, dates and dried figs. Distinct sherry character with dark chocolate, walnuts, orange peel and warm spices.

Flavor: Full-bodied, powerful and oily. Layers of dark fruit, caramelized sugar, espresso, cocoa and spice cake. The high alcohol gives intensity and structure, but is nicely balanced by the sweetness of the cask.

Finish: Very long and warm with lingering notes of sherry, spice, bitter chocolate and mature oak.

Family Casks – single cask without compromise

The Glenfarclas Family Casks range consists of exclusive single cask bottlings where each bottle is an independent expression of both vintage and cask. The range is highly prized among collectors and connoisseurs for its authenticity, high quality and consistent focus on tradition.

About Glenfarclas

Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 and has been family owned since 1865 when the Grant family took over the distillery. Through six generations, the family has maintained traditional production methods, including direct fired copper pot stills and long ageing in sherry casks in classic dunage warehouses. It’s this long-term approach that makes Glenfarclas one of the most respected names in Scotch whisky.
