Glenfarclas Family Casks 2000 #6226 – A rare Highland Single Malt for connoisseurs

Here’s a whisky that speaks directly to collectors and passionate whisky lovers alike. Glenfarclas Family Casks 2000 #6226 is a true single cask bottling that demonstrates Glenfarclas’ uncompromising approach to quality, patience and craftsmanship. An exclusive release where time, wood and tradition have been fused together to create a world-class experience.

The whisky was distilled in 2000 and has had more than 23 years of quiet maturation in an elegant refill sherry hogshead. The long maturation has added depth and complexity without overpowering the distillery’s distinctive style. Bottling took place on July 19, 2023, resulting in just 268 bottles worldwide – a rarity that rarely makes it to the shelves.

As always in the Family Casks range, this whisky is bottled at natural cask strength of 52.2%, with no chill filtration and no added color. This is Glenfarclas at its most honest and authentic – made for slow enjoyment and contemplation.

Tasting notes

Nose: Elegant and deep with ripe cherries, dried figs and walnuts. Beautiful nuances of mocha, orange peel and a subtle but distinct sherry influence.

Flavor: Rich and silky mouthfeel. Dark chocolate, candied fruits and roasted nuts play nicely with warm spices like cinnamon and cloves. Harmonious, balanced and impressively complex.

Finish: Long and lingering with sweet sherry, elegant oak and a hint of dried tobacco that slowly lets go.

History of the house

Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 and has been owned and run by the Grant family since 1865 – today by the fifth and sixth generations. Beautifully situated in Speyside, the distillery is internationally recognized for its traditional production, direct firing of the copper pot stills and uncompromising use of sherry casks.

Glenfarclas is particularly famous for its long-aged whiskies and the iconic Family Casks range, where each cask is bottled separately and presents its own unique personality. It’s whisky created with respect for the past – and with an eye to the collectors of the future.
