Gelas 60 year old Armagnac – A rare 60 year old from Bas-Armagnac in absolute top class

Gelas 60 year old Armagnac is one of the most impressive and oldest eaux-de-vie in Maison Gelas’ renowned Tradition series. Here we enter the absolute elite of aged Armagnac. Few spirits have the structure, concentration and balance to age this long – and those that reach this level are simply exceptional.

After decades in French oak barrels, Armagnac develops a depth and complexity that only time can create. At 50-60 years of age, the armagnac is often transferred from cask to glass balloons to preserve the perfect maturity. This 60-year-old is a textbook example of how beautiful and moving a spirit can be when nature, craftsmanship and patience come together.

The result is a majestic and deeply nuanced Armagnac that unfolds in the glass with elegance, strength and an almost meditative calm. It is an experience to be savored slowly and respectfully – a spirit for life’s special moments.

The house behind – Maison Gelas

Founded in 1865, Maison Gelas has been producing Armagnac under the family name for more than four generations. The house is located in Bas-Armagnac – the smallest and most prestigious district in the region – where the specific nature of the soil provides optimal growing conditions and creates spirits with finesse and complexity.

The Gelas family has full control over the entire process from grape growing to distillation, aging and bottling. The house specialties include a range of unique monocépage Armagnacs, bottled at cask strength and without filtration, as well as an impressive collection of more than 90 different vintage Armagnacs – some dating back to 1887.

Since 2001, Philippe Gelas has led the house with great passion and expertise. He is considered one of the most knowledgeable people in Armagnac and has contributed significantly to strengthening Maison Gelas’ position as one of the region’s most respected producers.
