History of the house

Glenfarclas Distillery is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that is still family owned. The distillery was purchased by the Grant family in 1865 when John Grant took over the lease of Rechlerich Farm and acquired the distillery for £511.19s.0d. Since then, five generations of the family have been behind the production.

Today, the Grant family continues the tradition of producing whisky in the classic Speyside style, with a focus on quality, craftsmanship and respect for history. The Family Casks series is a clear example of this philosophy and offers a unique insight into the distillery’s warehouses and cask selection.
