Glenfarclas Family Cask 1960 #1770 – Unique whisky history in a bottle

Glenfarclas Family Cask 1960 #1770 is nothing less than a liquid piece of Scotch whisky history. Distilled in 1960 and bottled in 2013 after more than half a century in cask, this rare bottling represents the pinnacle of Glenfarclas’ legendary Family Casks series.

Only 166 bottles have been bottled from this single cask, making this whisky an extremely desirable collector’s item. At a subdued 42.3% ABV, the whisky is silky, elegant and incredibly nuanced – a testament to what time, patience and exceptional sherry casks can create.

This is not just a whisky, but an experience for the seasoned connoisseur who wants to taste a true classic from the golden decades of Glenfarclas.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Elegant and deep with ripe sherry notes, dried fruit, raisins and orange peel. Fine notes of polished oak, leather, honey and a hint of dark chocolate.

Flavor: Incredibly smooth and rounded. Layer upon layer of dried fruit, nuts, caramel and light spice. The flavor is perfectly balanced with an almost creamy mouthfeel and an impressive calmness.

Finish: Long, delicate and persistent with sherry, ripe oak and an elegant, slightly sweet finish.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas is one of Scotland’s most iconic family-owned distilleries and has been owned by the Grant family since 1865. The distillery is renowned for its traditional open fire distilling and uncompromising use of sherry casks.
