Compagnie des Indes 27 Year Old Guyana Rum 52.7% MEC7 is an extremely rare and collector-oriented single cask bottling, bottled exclusively for Denmark. Distilled in November 1988 at the legendary Enmore distillery and aged for a full 27 years, this is a rum of monumental depth, complexity and history.

Only 248 bottles are bottled from the MEC7 cask – and at full cask strength of 52.7%. There is no dilution, no compromise and no unnecessary intervention. This is rum in its most authentic and concentrated form, where every nuance of the cask and distillate is razor sharp.

The long aging has created an intense and deeply textured Guyana rum with classic Demerara character: dark, powerful and elegant at the same time. The color is deep mahogany and already in the glass you can sense the impressive concentration of almost three decades of maturation.

Tasting notes

Nose: Intense and complex with dark caramel, molasses, dried fruit and polished oak. Hints of tobacco, cocoa and lightly roasted coffee.

Flavor: Powerful and rich with layers of brown sugar, spices, dark chocolate and ripe fruit. Elegant bitterness from the oak balances the natural sweetness.

Finish: Very long and concentrated with dry, woody notes, cocoa and warm spicy depth that lingers in the mouth.

Compagnie des Indes is a French independent bottler known for selecting and bottling unique casks from some of the world’s most iconic rum distilleries. The philosophy is based on transparency, respect for the origin and minimal manipulation of the finished product.

The Enmore distillery in Guyana is historically famous for its characterful rums, often produced on traditional wooden columns, which have given Guyana rum its distinct identity. Although production is now concentrated elsewhere, the legacy lives on through rare bottlings like this MEC7 – a true tribute to the Demerara tradition.
