Glenfarclas Family Casks 2003 #102 – Speyside Single Malt Whisky 58,3%

A true rarity from one of Scotland’s most respected distilleries. Glenfarclas Family Casks 2003 #102 is an exclusive limited edition Single Cask bottling, created for collectors and connoisseurs seeking uncompromising quality. Only 653 bottles have been released worldwide – each one a unique expression of Glenfarclas’ classic style and family traditions.

The whisky was distilled in 2003 and matured exclusively in one sherry butt (cask 102) before being bottled on May 26, 2020. Bottled at a full cask strength of an impressive 58.3%, with no chill filtration, preserving all the natural oils, aromas and deep complexity that characterize the Family Casks range.

In the glass, the whisky has a beautiful golden color that already signals depth and intensity. This is a single malt where nothing is left to chance – this is classic Speyside whisky at its most concentrated and elegant.

Tasting notes
The nose is rich and harmonious with distinct sherry sweetness, vinous notes and layers of leather, malt sweetness and spice. The glass then opens up with raisins, orange peel, plums and fine nuances of olive oil and herbs.
The taste is rich and complex with an almost kaleidoscopic balance where nothing dominates. Notes of dried fruit, spice and malt melt together in a warm and rounded whole.
The finish is long, elegant and persistent with notes of barley malt, cocoa powder and milk chocolate that slowly fades and invites another sip.

About the house of Glenfarclas
Glenfarclas is one of the last independent, family-owned distilleries in Scotland. Since 1865, the Grant family – now in its sixth generation – has run the distillery with respect for tradition, craftsmanship and quality. The name Glenfarclas means “valley of green grass” in Gaelic, and the distillery’s distinctive style is created with water from Ben Rinnes and classic pot stills that give the whisky its depth and warm sherry profile.
