Glenfarclas Family Casks 2008 #2112 – Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 57,7%

Glenfarclas Family Casks 2008 #2112 is an uncompromising and energetic single cask bottling that showcases the distillery’s raw strength and elegant distillate in its purest form. Bottled at a full cask strength of an impressive 57.7% and released in just 538 bottles, this is a whisky for enthusiasts who want to experience Glenfarclas without filter – straight from the cask.

The whisky was distilled in 2008 and bottled on August 1, 2024 after approximately 16 years of maturation in a plain cask (cask number 2112). This cask type allows maximum space for the distillate’s own character, with Glenfarclas’ fruity, malty and slightly oily style standing out. The result is an intense, vibrant and characterful Highland single malt with plenty of personality.

The Family Casks range is known for its honesty and transparency, and this bottling is no exception: no chill filtration, no color addition and no compromises. Just true craftsmanship and patience.

Tasting notes

The nose is fresh and expressive with notes of green apple, pear, malt, vanilla and a hint of citrus with light spicy undertones.

The palate is powerful and full-bodied with distinct malt character, ripe fruits, vanilla, light honey and spicy oak. The alcohol strength adds intensity and depth, but the balance is nicely maintained – especially with a drop of water.

The finish is long, warm and dry, with persistent malt, spice and an elegant, long-lasting cask note.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining Scottish distilleries that is still family owned. Since 1865, the distillery has been in the hands of the Grant family after John Grant bought Recherlich Farm and Glenfarclas Distillery for £511.

For six generations, the family has upheld traditional production methods, including directly heated copper pot stills and a focus on quality over volume. The Family Casks range is the family’s own tribute to their casks, their history and their uncompromising approach to true single malt whisky.
