Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Imperial Dark 2017 – 2018 – 2019 – exclusive imperial collection box from Belgium

This is a very special and highly coveted collector’s box from the legendary Belgian brewery Het Anker in Mechelen. The box contains three vintages of the iconic Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Imperial Dark – brewed once a year on 24 February in honor of Emperor Charles V’s birthday.

This is not just beer, but liquid cultural heritage. A unique opportunity to experience how time, ageing and the brewer’s craftsmanship shape the flavor from year to year. Perfect for the collector, the connoisseur or as an exclusive gift for the quality-conscious beer enthusiast.

Three vintages – three imperial interpretations

2017 – The classic power
The 2017 vintage is deep and majestic with a dark reddish brown color and dense, creamy head. The taste is intense and almost vinous with notes of dark caramel, cane sugar, figs and warm spices. A round and elegant finish that only gets better with age.

2018 – The harmonious elegance
2018 offers impressive balance and complexity. Dried fruit, chocolate and lightly burnt sugar meet in a silky malt body. The alcohol is beautifully integrated and provides a pleasant, warming sensation. An excellent companion to hearty dishes and mature cheeses.

2019 – The youthful strength
The youngest vintage in the box is more lively and fruity in expression. Plums, raisins and candied orange peel interact beautifully with dark caramel and malt. A powerful, yet fresh and modern quadrupel.

The story of the house

Het Anker in Mechelen dates back to 1369 and is one of Belgium’s oldest breweries. In the 16th century, Mechelen was the residence of Emperor Charles V and the city’s brewers produced a special beer in his honor. This proud tradition was revived in 1999 with the Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer – today recognized as one of the best Belgian quadrupels in the world.

Each bottle contains centuries of history, passion and uncompromising craftsmanship. A true imperial beer that can be enjoyed now or stored and developed further in the cellar.
