The whisky was distilled on 08.06.1990 at the iconic Laphroaig Distillery and bottled on 25.05.2011 after 20 years in a bourbon cask. Cask 5924 yielded just 110 bottles, making this release extremely limited and highly sought after.

Bottled at full cask strength of 53.9% and without chill filtration, this whisky retains all its natural structure, oils and depth. The result is a powerful and complex Islay single malt with distinct distillery character and great cask balance.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Intense peat smoke, sea salt and iodine, combined with vanilla, citrus and light coconut from the bourbon cask.

Taste: Rich and powerful with classic Laphroaig smoke, sweet malt, caramel and spicy oak. Underneath the smoke are hints of lemon, honey and a slight medicinal note.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent with smoke, salted caramel and elegant cask spice.

Enjoy neat for maximum intensity. A little water can open up the sweeter and fruitier layers under the smoke.
