Lhéraud 1971 #162 Grande Champagne Cognac 46%

Lhéraud 1971 Grande Champagne Cognac is a rare and authentic vintage cognac from the heart of the Cognac region’s finest cru. Distilled in 1971 and aged for more than four decades before being bottled on 27.02.2012 under official control, this bottle represents a unique opportunity to experience true, unadulterated Grande Champagne in its most refined form.

Batch no. 165 – bottle no. 6623 – is bottled at 46% alcohol, providing an intense and concentrated flavor experience. This vintage cognac is a textbook example of what time, terroir and tradition can create when craftsmanship is allowed to speak.

At Lhéraud, caramel is never added. The beautiful deep amber color comes exclusively from the long aging in oak barrels. It is a true “water of life” – created without compromise.

Tasting notes

Color: Deep mahogany with warm copper reflections.

Aroma: Intense and complex with dried fruits, walnuts and candied orange peel. Notes of old oak, cigar box and dark caramel add aristocratic depth.

Taste: Silky and concentrated. Layers of prunes, figs and honey melt together with spices, leather and fine tannin structure from the barrel. Elegant and balanced despite its advanced age.

Finish: Exceptionally long and persistent with ripe fruit, spicy oak and a warm, harmonious finish.

The history of the house

The Lhéraud family can trace its roots back to 1680, when Alexandre Lhéraud began cultivating land in Lasdoux in Charente – close to the Cognac district. Over the generations, the house has refined a traditional production method, which today is continued by Guy Lhéraud.

Lhéraud is known for uncompromising quality, long aging and respect for craftsmanship. The house’s vintage cognacs are sought after by collectors around the world precisely because they are authentic, unadjusted and aged without the addition of color. Each bottle tells a story of time, patience and Grande Champagne’s unique terroir.
