Plantation Single Cask Barbados 2014 – 14th Edition Eriksen Vinhandels

Plantation Single Cask Barbados 2014 is an exclusive rum selected especially for Eriksen Vinhandel. This bottling is the 14th edition in Eriksen Vinhandel’s Single Cask series and represents a rare opportunity to experience Plantation Rum’s famous double maturation in a unique cask combination.

The rum was distilled in 2014 at the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, a distillery known for elegant and complex rums. After distillation, the rum undergoes Plantation Rum’s signature aging method, combining tropical aging with further maturation in France.

First, the rum is aged for 6 years in a tropical climate in bourbon barrels in Barbados. Here it develops deep and concentrated aromatic layers. The rum is then transported to Maison Ferrand in France where it matures for a further 2 years in Ferrand cognac casks. Finally, the rum is given an extra dimension through a 1-year finish in Riversaltes wine barrels, which adds a complex and refined character.

The total aging of 9 years results in a rum with great depth and complexity. It is bottled at 47.9%, which brings out the rum’s natural aromas and provides an intense and rich flavor experience.

Tasting notes

On the nose, the rum opens with fruity notes and acacia honey, accompanied by nuances of citrus, apricot, tobacco and licorice. The taste is rich and oily with layers of beeswax, tropical fruits, hazelnut and a hint of anise. The finish is long and complex with smoky and woody notes, as well as notes of salted peanuts and allspice.

A characterful rum that is perfect for enjoying neat in a good rum glass, where all the nuances are allowed to unfold.

Plantation Rum

Plantation Rum is created by Maison Ferrand and master blender Alexandre Gabriel. The house is known for selecting special rum casks from the Caribbean and giving them extra complexity through their famous double aging.

By combining tropical aging in the rum’s country of origin with subsequent maturation in France, Plantation creates rums with a unique balance of power, elegance and complexity. The Single Cask series represents some of the most exclusive and limited bottlings from the house.
