Palmer & Co Grands Terroirs 2003 Magnum – Exclusive vintage champagne in absolute top class
Palmer & Co Grands Terroirs 2003 is a champagne out of the ordinary – a rare and powerful vintage champagne created in a hot and challenging year where yields were low but concentration was outstanding. The result is a deeply complex and intense champagne that stands today as a monument to the character of the vintage.
The cellar master has put together a precise and ambitious blend consisting of 54% Pinot Noir from Grand Cru vineyards in Mailly and Verzenay and Premier Cru vineyards in Rilly-la-Montagne, Ludes and Chigny-les-Roses. In addition, 46% Chardonnay from Premier Cru vineyards in Trépail and Villers-Marmery. The combination provides structure, fruit intensity and elegance.
The wine is aged for a full 12 years on the lees, adding depth, complexity and a silky mousse. Production is extremely limited – just 1703 bottles, all bottled in magnum. The magnum format ensures an even slower and more harmonious maturation, making this champagne particularly attractive to collectors and connoisseurs.
Grands Terroirs 2003 won The Chairman’s Trophy at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships 2019, a recognition that cements its international quality and format.
Taste and aroma notes
Color: Light golden with vibrant and fine bubbles.
Aroma: Charming and complex with notes of apricot, acacia blossom and brioche, elegantly integrated with ripe notes from the long ageing.
Taste: Delicate and precise acidity with velvety mousse. Hints of hazelnut, pineapple, caramel and ripe stone fruit create a harmonious and deep flavor experience with great concentration.
Finish: Long, complex and balanced with both freshness and ripe depth.
Serving suggestions
Enjoy it slightly chilled – ideal with a simple and elegant dish like crab on sourdough bread with mayonnaise and fresh herbs. It also matches refined seafood dishes and gastronomic servings where structure and finesse need to work together.
