Planteray Prestige Cellars Ping 17 is rum for connoisseurs, collectors and enthusiasts who seek only the best. A rare single cask bottling from Grenada, where Caribbean power meets French elegance in an uncompromising and deeply fascinating rum experience. The rum comes from Grenada Distillers and is distilled on column stills, giving it a clean and structured base. It has matured for 13 years in a tropical climate in selected bourbon barrels, where heat and humidity concentrate the flavor and add depth, richness and intensity. The rum is then transported to France and finished with 1 year in Ferrand cognac barrels – a signature technique that adds finesse, spice and elegance.

Bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.3%, with no added sugar and no color. Just pure rum as nature and time have created it. The result is a powerful yet balanced rum with impressive complexity and length.

Ping 17 was hand-selected in January 2025 by Juul’s own rum specialists, Max Scott and Jakob Bunch, during a visit to Planteray in France. A very limited number of bottles were bottled, all individually numbered – a true collector’s rum that will only become more desirable with time.

Tasting notes

Nose: Rich and enticing aroma with ripe bananas, burnt sugar and dark chocolate. Underlying notes of coconut, vanilla and lightly toasted oak from the bourbon barrels.

Flavor: Rich and deep with layers of caramel, dried fruit and an elegant bitter-sweet note of tobacco and orange peel. The alcohol strength provides structure and intensity without being harsh.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent with oak, spicy sweetness and dark caramelized nuances.

History of the house

Planteray – formerly known as Plantation – is part of Maison Ferrand and is led by visionary Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel. The house is world-renowned for its double aging philosophy, where rum is first matured in its tropical origins and then refined in France.

Since 2005, the Ping series has been Juul’s seal of quality for the most extraordinary casks. Only rums with special character, balance and aging potential are allowed to bear the Ping name. Ping 17 is a textbook example of this philosophy – a premium rum created for those seeking authenticity, depth and pure enjoyment.
