Ron Cartavio Gran Solera 15-Year-Old Peruvian Rum 40%

Ron Cartavio Gran Solera 15 Years is an exclusive Peruvian rum with a rich, smooth, and elegant character. It offers a harmonious blend of ripe fruit, caramel, vanilla, and warm spices. An ideal rum for those who prefer a round and well-balanced style with plenty of flavor.

The rum comes from Peru, where Cartavio has a long tradition of distillation and barrel aging. Gran Solera is one of the house’s classic premium bottlings and clearly demonstrates what long aging and careful blending can bring to a rum.

15 Years of Aging and the Solera Method

Ron Cartavio Gran Solera is crafted through an extensive aging process involving 15 years of aging. The Solera method is used to blend various aged components, creating a consistent, complex, and well-rounded style.

The extended contact with the oak imparts deep notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted nuts. Ripe banana and dried fruit provide sweetness and body, while warm spices and oak ensure balance and structure.

At 40% ABV, Gran Solera is both full-bodied and pleasantly rounded. It is particularly well-suited for sipping neat, allowing its many layers to unfold in the glass. Try it with a large ice cube if you prefer a slightly smoother profile.

Tasting Notes

Cartavio – rum from Peru since 1929

Cartavio’s history began in 1929 in Cartavio, in northern Peru. The region’s connection to sugarcane has created a natural foundation for rum production, and over the decades, Cartavio has developed its own Peruvian style.

An important part of the house’s craft lies in the aging process. Cartavio works with carefully selected barrels and various aging techniques to create rum with depth, balance, and a smooth character.

Cartavio Gran Solera 15 Year Old is a fine example of the house’s style. The combination of long aging, the Solera method, and Peruvian rum tradition results in a full-bodied and inviting rum, crafted for slow savoring.
