Sandeman 1970 Vintage Port – Classic Vintage from a Legendary House

Sandeman 1970 Vintage Port is an iconic and collectible port from one of the Douro Valley’s most historic port houses. Considered one of the great classic vintage years, 1970 is a mature and deeply complex port with over 50 years of evolution behind it. A wine for connoisseurs, collectors and connoisseurs of life.

The grapes were harvested in 1970 and the wine was bottled in 1972, after the mandatory two years of barrel ageing that characterizes true Vintage Port. After that, it has developed slowly and naturally in the bottle. The result is a port with intensity, structure and a unique aromatic depth.

Vintage Port is only produced in particularly good years. The wine is aged briefly in barrels and then aged in the bottle for decades. This particular 1970 vintage shows how time can transform powerful fruit and tannin into silky elegance and complex tertiary notes.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Dried fruit, figs, raisins, walnut, leather and spicy sweetness.
Flavor: Rich and concentrated with dark berries, prunes, cocoa and ripe fruit sweetness.
Finish: Long and silky with nuttiness, spice and nicely balanced acidity.

About Sandeman

Sandeman was founded in 1790 by George Sandeman. As early as 1805, the house was among the first to burn their initials GSC (George Sandeman & Co) directly on the barrels with a hot iron. At that time, brand names were unusual. This signature guaranteed quality and origin and was groundbreaking for the industry. Sandeman has since built a global reputation for classic, age-worthy port.
