The Chess Malt Collection D1 Tomatin 29 Year Old Highland Single Malt 54.9% – rare and impressive old single cask whisky

The Chess Malt Collection D1 Tomatin 29 Year Old is an unusual and exclusive Highland Single Malt Whisky with almost three decades of maturation. The whisky was distilled in November 1994 at Tomatin Distillery and bottled in March 2024 after a full 29 years in cask. The result is a deep, complex and elegant whisky with an impressive mature character.

The Chess Malt Collection is renowned for selecting unique single cask whiskies from some of Scotland’s most interesting distilleries. The series focuses on small batches, high quality and authentic bottlings. Each edition represents a different whisky, showcasing the pure character of the distillate and the influence of the cask.

Located in the Highlands, Tomatin Distillery is famous for its elegant and fruity style. The distillery produces whiskies with soft malt, fine fruit notes and a beautiful balance. Aged for almost three decades, the whisky develops extraordinary complexity and a silky smooth texture.

This bottling is matured in a refill hogshead butt cask. A refill cask provides a more subdued wood influence, allowing the natural character of the distillate to emerge. The result is a whisky with great finesse, where fruit, malt and spices blend beautifully.

The whisky is bottled at cask strength of 54.9%, giving an intense and rich experience in the glass. It is also bottled without chill filtration and without added color. This ensures an authentic whisky with maximum aroma and natural structure.

Only 149 bottles have been bottled from this cask. This makes this edition a rare and coveted whisky among collectors. The Chess Malt Collection D1 Tomatin 29 year old is both a collector’s bottle and an impressive dram for special moments.
