Juffer-Sonnenuhr is a south-facing and extremely steep vineyard directly on the Mosel River. The slate-rich soil produces wines with intense minerality and an elegant structure. Schiffmann-Junk has just 5,000 m² at its disposal in this iconic field. Some of the vines are more than 110 years old. Yields are kept low and only the best grapes are used for this Spätlese.

The 2024 vintage shows the field at its most elegant. The wine is full of energy and precision. The natural residual sweetness is perfectly balanced by the vibrant acidity. The result is a harmonious and complex Riesling with great ageing potential. It is also irresistible right now.

The Schiffmann-Junk family has been producing wine for almost 400 years on the Juffer and Juffer-Sonnenuhr fields near Brauneberg. It’s a small family house with a total production of only 30,000-40,000 bottles per year.

The focus is on quality over quantity. Craftsmanship in the steep fields is a matter of course. The result is classic Mosel wines with finesse, elegance and distinct terroir. This Riesling Spätlese 2024 is a beautiful example of the house’s uncompromising approach.
