In 2013, the 175th anniversary of the founding of A.H. Riise's pharmacy in Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas, with the launch of this special anniversary rum. Two of the rums included in this blend have been stored on old P.X. and Oloroso sherry casks, which add a great deal of complexity with hints of caramel, vanilla and wild berries to this rum.

There was an international format over Copenhagen when the city in 1888 hosted the store Nordiske Industri, Landbrugs & Kunstudstilling, which was held in an area that covered the new Town Hall Square, Tivoli and the Industrial Association's building.

A.H. Riise also participated in the large Nordic Exhibition at the West Indies Pavilion with her room and was awarded a gold medal for "Excellent" product. It is this honor and event that is celebrated as we enjoy this special 1888 Gold Medal Edition Rum.

It is hand-blended by our master distiller in respect to naval traditions, using several casks to create this ultimate blend.

A.H. Riise "Royal Danish Navy 40%" It is made from molasses generated through slow fermentation and is then distilled into a rum with 85% alcohol content. This is archieved using the traditional pot-still distillation method, which results in a high content of esters and a powerful aroma. Finally, the spirit drink is diluted to a comfortable 40% volume before being poured into bottles and made ready for an exceptional sipping experince.

Albert Heinrich Riise, the son of a sailor from the wonderful Danish island of Ærø, who travelled the world and set up as a pharmacist and rum maker in the West Indies, was a restless soul and made both rum and went on expeditions to hunt for new species in the plant or animal kingdom. A great many plant, amphibians and fish have the world "Riisea" in their Latin name, thus after the man who first discovered and described the new spicies.

To his contemporaries, A.H. Riise was known for his uncompromising approach to his work and the same can said of the company A.H. Riise today when we create the ultimate drink.

"Master Blender Collection" is made as Small Batch, yet we strive to ensure that each batch is an accurate reproduction of the preceding batch.
