A.H. Riise Black Coral 45,8% – exclusive rum from the Black Gem Collection

A.H. Riise Black Coral is a luxurious rum from the exclusive Black Gem Collection. The series is created as a tribute to the rare black gemstones found deep underground in the West Indies. The result is an extraordinary rum with great depth, complexity and character that clearly reflects its historical roots in the Caribbean.

Black Coral is created as a limited release and bottled in only 5,990 numbered bottles. Each bottle represents a unique batch. Therefore, the blend can never be recreated in exactly the same form again. The dark and elegant bottle emphasizes the luxurious expression of the series and makes the rum a coveted collector’s item for rum lovers.

The rum is created from a careful selection of casks from the Caribbean. Each cask is carefully evaluated by the house Master Distiller. The best casks are then blended into a harmonious and complex rum. The result is a powerful rum with an impressive balance of sweetness, spice and depth.

The name Black Coral is inspired by the rare black coral found in deep waters around the West Indies and Central America. The dark coral is known for its special shine when polished. Similarly, this rum appears elegant, deep and refined in the glass.

Tasting notes

The aroma is rich and inviting with notes of caramel, dark sugar, vanilla and exotic spices. The taste is rich and round with nuances of ripe fruits, roasted nuts, molasses and light spicy notes. The finish is warm, soft and long with an elegant sweetness.

The history of the house

A.H. Riise has its roots in the West Indies. The story began in 1838 when pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise established his business on the island of St. Thomas. He worked with rum and spirits based on molasses from sugar cane grown in the Caribbean. Sugar cane was brought to the area as early as 1493 by Christopher Columbus and the climate proved ideal for its cultivation.

One of the most fertile islands in the area was St. Croix, nicknamed the “Garden of the West Indies”. From here and the rest of the Caribbean, Riise found high-quality ingredients for his rum blends. The uncompromising pursuit of quality is still at the heart of A.H. Riise Spirits today.
