Louis Roederer Vintage 2011 Brut Champagne – Classic vintage with depth, structure and gastronomic strength

Louis Roederer Vintage 2011 Brut is a serious and characterful Champagne, created for connoisseurs seeking depth, complexity and a clear vintage profile. It’s a wine of both power and finesse that shows Louis Roederer’s ability to refine a challenging year into great Champagne. This is a wine that is as good at the table as it is in the glass alone.

The 2011 vintage – Contrasts, structure and balance

The 2011 vintage in Champagne was characterized by great climatic contrasts. A late flowering was followed by a sunny summer and ended with a cool harvest. These conditions created a Champagne with both richness and freshness. The result is a wine with clear structure, distinctive character and great suppleness.

Grapes and vinification – Precision in every detail

Louis Roederer Vintage 2011 Brut is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir grapes come primarily from the prestigious Grand Cru town of Verzy, which is known for its power, depth and ageing potential.

27% of the wine has undergone malolactic fermentation, which contributes to balance and roundness. A full 39% is vinified in French oak barrels. Barrel aging adds complexity, structure and subtle spicy nuances without overpowering the fruit or terroir.

Tasting notes – Elegant strength and gastronomic depth

In the glass, the champagne appears beautifully golden with clear, shiny hues and a fine, vibrant mousse. The nose is subdued at first, but gradually opens up with notes of ripe apples and pears. This is followed by floral notes, a touch of honey, fresh citrus and red currant.

The taste is rich, concentrated and structured. The powerful Pinot Noir from Verzy delivers richness, spice and an elegant hint of ginger. A mineral and slightly smoky character testifies to both origin and barrel aging. An herbal freshness gives the wine an almost umami-like depth that makes it particularly suitable for gastronomy.

Food & Serving

Louis Roederer Vintage 2011 Brut is ideal with food. Try it with poultry, mushroom-based dishes, fish with butter or light meat. Best served at 8-10°C, preferably in large glasses for maximum aroma and depth.

House history – Tradition, terroir and uncompromising quality

Louis Roederer was founded in 1776 and is based in Reims. The house remains family-owned and is known for its uncompromising approach to quality. For over 240 years, Roederer has worked purposefully with its own vineyards and full control over the entire production.

The house was among the first in Champagne to invest heavily in its own vineyards. This ensures a clear expression of terroir and consistently high quality. Although Louis Roederer is world-famous for Cristal, vintage champagnes like this 2011 clearly show the house’s enormous level of craftsmanship.
