Discover a port filled with history, soul and incomparable finesse. Barros Colheita 1974 – 50 anos de liberdade is not just a wine. It’s a tribute to a year that changed Portugal forever. 1974 marked the breakthrough of the Carnation Revolution, a new beginning – and Barros celebrates the 50th anniversary with a rare, exclusive bottling that speaks directly to collectors, Port lovers and anyone who wants a wine experience beyond the ordinary.

This Special Edition unites the deep heritage of the Douro with modern artistic freedom. The bottle is decorated by Teresa Rego, one of Portugal’s strongest new artistic names, whose colorful and energetic universe matches the intensity and vitality of the wine.

With only 300 bottles coming to Denmark, this is a unique opportunity to secure a true jewel in the world of Port.

A vintage with legendary status

1974 is considered one of the great years at Barros. Bottled in 2024 – after half a century in oak barrels – the Colheita has already received impressive international acclaim:

  • 98 points by IWSC

  • 95 points by Richard Mayson

A rare balance of power, sweetness and elegance makes this Port a great choice for enthusiasts and investors alike.

The grapes – the essence of classic port

The wine is created from the four cornerstones of port production, each with 25%:

  • Touriga Nacional – structure, depth and aroma

  • Tinta Roriz – backbone and spice

  • Touriga Franca – soft fruit and flowers

  • Tinta Barroca – sweetness, warmth and charm

Tasting notes

Color: Intense amber color with vivid light reflections.

Aroma: Layer upon layer of dried fruit, roasted almonds, figs, oriental spices and warm notes of plums and caramel.

Taste: A rich, powerful and harmonious colheita with perfectly balanced sweetness. Lots of raisins, mocha, orange marmalade and deep spices. Long, intense and majestic aftertaste where the ripe barrel tones unfold beautifully.
