The name Summus means “top of the mountain” and that is precisely the ambition behind this wine – to create a wine of the highest level. The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards on Castello Banfi’s vast estate, where the climate and soil provide ideal conditions for growing both international and classic Italian grape varieties.

Summus is made from a carefully selected blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah. Each grape plays an important role in the character of the wine. Syrah adds intensity and spicy complexity, Sangiovese gives the wine its elegant structure and juicy body, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds depth, tannic structure and a great fruit profile. The combination creates a wine with both power and finesse.

The grapes are first vinified in steel tanks to preserve the purity and intensity of the fruit. The wine is then aged for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels, adding complexity, structure and elegant barrel notes. After barrel aging, the wine undergoes further bottle aging before release, allowing all elements to blend perfectly.

In the glass, Summus Toscana 2019 is deep and intense with a beautiful dark color. The aroma is complex and inviting with ripe dark fruits, spices and elegant barrel nuances. History of the house

Castello Banfi is located near Montalcino in Tuscany and is one of Italy’s most recognized wineries. Founded in 1978, the property comprises around 3,000 hectares of land, of which approximately 1,000 hectares are planted with vineyards.
