Chateau Leóville Barton Saint-Julien Bordeaux 1996
Experience the classic power and elegance of Château Léoville Barton 1996. This wine captures the essence of Saint-Julien and the very best of Bordeaux’s left side. As a 2nd Growth (2ème Grand Cru Classé) from the Médoc, it is an icon among collectors and wine enthusiasts. Léoville Barton combines strength, depth, and refined finesse in a beautiful balance.

Tasting Profile – Powerful, Complex, and Harmonious
The 1996 vintage is considered one of the great Bordeaux years. Here, Léoville Barton shows its class.
The bouquet offers blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedarwood, and graphite. With some time in the glass, notes of tobacco, leather, and dried herbs emerge. The palate is concentrated and elegant, with ripe tannins and a silky-smooth texture. The finish is long, mineral-driven, and precise – a hallmark of Cabernet Sauvignon at its finest.

Serving: Enjoy at 17–18 °C after one hour of decanting.
Perfect with: Beef tenderloin, game, or classic lamb.

Vineyard and Grapes – Terroir with Character
Léoville Barton’s vineyards cover 50 hectares in the heart of Saint-Julien, 40 km north of Bordeaux. The soil is deep gravel with a clay subsoil, providing excellent drainage and stable temperatures.
The planting consists of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. The old vines contribute depth and intensity. The style is classic – more structured and masculine than many other Saint-Julien wines.

The Story of Château Léoville Barton
Château Léoville Barton is a living part of Bordeaux’s history. The estate has been owned by the Irish Barton family since the 1820s, making it the oldest family-owned property in the 1855 classification.
The château was built in 1758 by Monsieur de Pontet, but it was the Barton family that made it legendary. Today, it is managed by Lilian Barton, the 9th generation of the family. Léoville Barton stands as a symbol of tradition, authenticity, and timeless quality – a wine that respects the past and impresses in the present.
