Château Pierrail Bordeaux Supérieur 2018 – classic Bordeaux with elegance and depth

Château Pierrail Bordeaux Supérieur 2018 is a classic Bordeaux where elegance and power go hand in hand. This is a wine that combines tradition, quality and great balance. It’s perfect for both festive dinners and cozy evenings where a good glass of wine should be the center of attention.

The vineyards are located on sunny slopes along the Fonchotte River. The southeast-facing fields get the first sun of the morning. This gives the grapes an even and optimal ripening. The result is a wine with great concentration and depth.

Yields are deliberately kept low to ensure high quality in every grape. The cuvée consists of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination produces a wine with soft fruit, structure and classic Bordeaux character.

After a long maceration, the wine is vinified with great precision. It is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The barrel aging gives extra richness and complexity. At the same time, the tannins are rounded, giving the wine harmony and elegance.

The 2018 vintage is known for its ripe fruit and good structure. Therefore, the wine can be enjoyed now. However, it also has great ageing potential for the patient wine lover.

Tasting notes

The nose opens with intense notes of blackberry and black currant. This is followed by nuances of dark chocolate, leather, tobacco and spices. The taste is full-bodied and well-balanced. The tannins are soft and the aftertaste is long and elegant.

The wine goes particularly well with beef, lamb, stews and spicy dishes. It also works well with mild and aged cheeses.

The history of the house

Château Pierrail has its roots in the historic de Segur family. The castle sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Fonchotte Valley. The beautiful property was built in the 17th century and is known for its classic facade and distinctive towers.

Over the centuries, several prominent owners have lived in the castle. Among them were the Barons de Brianson. Their portraits still hang in the main salon today. History and tradition live on in the wines of Château Pierrail.
