Clairin Communal Batch 8 Haiti 43% is raw, vibrant and uncompromising rum from the proud traditions of Haiti. This is a true agricole-style rum – known locally as Clairin – bottled and made available to Europe by quality Italian bottler Velier.

Clairin is Haiti’s answer to rhum agricole, but with even more terroir, even more character and even less industrial interference. This “Communal” Batch 8 is a blend of distillates from four different Haitian distilleries. What they all have in common is that the sugar cane is organically grown, harvested by hand and fermented with naturally occurring yeast – no lab culture and no additives.

Distillation takes place in traditional pot stills or small column stills, resulting in a rum with a distinct personality and local character. In Haiti, Clairin rarely leaves the commune where it is produced. Local customers show up with plastic jugs and are filled directly from the distillery. Thanks to Luca Gargano and Velier, these unique distillates are now bottled and available in Europe – in their pure and honest form.

Tasting notes

Color: Clear and transparent.

Aroma: Intense and aromatic with notes of fresh sugar cane, green herbs, citrus and a hint of olive and minerality.

Taste: Dry, fresh and full of character with vegetal notes, slightly salty minerality and a natural cane juice sweetness. Complex and vibrant without being heavy.
