Decades 5 Petit Verdot 2009
– Napa Valley luxury at its finest 100% Petit Verdot from the legendary Stagecoach Vineyard

A world-class wine experience.
If you’re looking for a red wine with power, depth, and exclusivity, Decades 5 Petit Verdot 2009 is a true gem for the connoisseur. This is more than just a wine – it’s a story of passion, terroir, and uncompromising quality.
This unique wine is made entirely from Petit Verdot – the mysterious and rare grape that usually plays only a minor role in great Bordeaux blends. But here, it takes center stage. Why? Because winemaker Jean Hoefliger, known from both Château Lynch-Bages and Alpha Omega, saw the immense potential of the grape when cultivated under the right conditions.

From Napa Valley’s Grand Cru site – Stagecoach Vineyard
The grapes are sourced from Stagecoach Vineyard, one of Napa Valley’s most iconic vineyards, located high up in Atlas Peak in southeastern Napa. Here – above the morning fog and bathed in sunlight – Petit Verdot ripens fully, something that rarely happens in its native Bordeaux. The vines grow in the sunniest and warmest section of the vineyard, on hard, volcanic soil.
The result? A wine with immense concentration, color, and structure.
It took the removal of over 500,000 tons of rock and stone to create this wine paradise – a project that only makes sense when the goal is absolute world-class quality.

Vinification and aging at the highest level
Natural fermentation is used here – no added yeasts – and 100% new French oak from the finest coopers in Burgundy and Bordeaux. Everything is handcrafted, everything is uncompromising, and everything is done to give Petit Verdot the ultimate expression.

Tasting Notes – Petit Verdot like you’ve never tasted before
Color: Opaque, deep ruby red. A visual promise of power and intensity.
Aroma: An explosion of dark fruit – blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry, and crème de cassis – flanked by Petit Verdot’s signature graphite and pencil shavings, adding structure and edge. Notes of espresso, dark chocolate, vanilla, spices like clove and cinnamon, along with a hint of olive tapenade and thyme.
Palate: The wine redefines richness. It’s voluminous and creamy, with silky yet noticeable tannins. The fruit is deep and almost liqueur-like, while the oak plays a supportive background role. A long, smooth, and intense finish.

The Story Behind Decades 5
Decades 5 is more than just a wine – it’s a wine project with purpose and passion. Created as a solo venture by Jean Hoefliger, one of Napa Valley’s most renowned winemakers, who wanted to show the world what Petit Verdot can do when everything comes together perfectly. No compromises. Only the best – from vineyard to bottle.
Decades 5 Petit Verdot 2009 is the result of vision, courage, and love for the craft – and a tribute to a grape most wine lovers have only experienced in small doses.
