Domaine Maldant-Pauvelot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru “Le Charlemagne” 2019 – World-class white Burgundy

Dreaming of a Grand Cru white Burgundy that combines power, precision and pure elegance? Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru “Le Charlemagne” 2019 from Domaine Maldant-Pauvelot is a top-class wine choice. This is one of the world’s most coveted Chardonnay wines – made on iconic terroir in the heart of the Côte de Beaune.

The 2019 vintage is concentrated, balanced and age-worthy. The grapes come from the Le Charlemagne parcel, one of the most prestigious parts of the Corton hill. The combination of calcareous and clayey soils with high granulosity gives structure, minerality and impressive depth. The result is a wine that both impresses now and evolves beautifully over the coming decades.

The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay and vinified with great precision. The grapes are gently pressed under CO₂ to protect the finesse of the aromas. This is followed by fermentation and 16 months of aging in French oak barrels. Light bâtonnage adds texture and complexity, while gentle filtration at bottling ensures purity and clarity in the final expression.

Tasting notes

Appearance: Beautiful, light golden color with elegant greenish hues – crystal clear and inviting.

Aroma: Intense and refined nose with notes of citrus, baked apple and creamy butter. Chalky minerality and subtle cask notes create depth and finesse.

Palate: Full-bodied and silky with an impressive balance between richness and freshness. The lively acidity provides suppleness and structure, while the finish is long, complex and mineral. A textbook example of a great, age-worthy white Burgundy.

Perfect for gastronomy

Corton-Charlemagne 2019 is made for the ambitious kitchen. It elevates dishes with lobster, turbot, scallops and veal in butter or cream sauce. It also matches refined vegetarian dishes with mushrooms and truffles and aged firm cheeses. A wine for special moments and grand dinners.
