Domaine Philippe Girard Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Les Peuillets” 2017 Magnum

Domaine Philippe Girard Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Les Peuillets” Magnum 2017 is classic Burgundy with both finesse and depth – bottled in magnum for extra aging potential and elegance. This Premier Cru from Savigny-Lès-Beaune combines the cool minerality of the area with ripe fruit and structural precision.

The wine is made from Pinot Noir from 60-year-old vines. The old vines have deep roots, low yields and produce grapes with concentration, complexity and a distinct terroir character. The result is a wine with greater than average intensity and ageability.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for 10-11 months in French oak barrels, about a third of which are new. This proportion of new barrels adds elegant notes of spice and structure without overpowering the fruit. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy is known for its balance of freshness, ripeness and approachable structure – and in magnum, the wine develops even more harmoniously over time.

Tasting notes

Color: Clear ruby red with a vibrant edge.

Aroma: Elegant aromas of red cherry, raspberry and currant combined with floral notes and a hint of lightly toasted oak.

Flavor: Silky and precise with great acidity and fine tannins. The red fruit is complemented by subtle spices and a mineral undertone typical of Savigny-Lès-Beaune.

Finish: Long and harmonious with freshness and classic Burgundy finesse.

About the area – Savigny-Lès-Beaune

Savigny-Lès-Beaune is located north of Beaune and is known for its elegant and terroir-driven Pinot Noir wines. Limestone soils and sloping fields produce wines with both structure and finesse – often with a more delicate profile than the more powerful neighboring appellations.

The house behind – Domaine Philippe Girard
