Foursquare Sovereignty is an uncompromising and powerful 14 year old Barbados Single Blended Rum, created by the legendary Foursquare Distillery. Bottled at a whopping 62% in November 2021, this is a rum with depth, structure and maximum intensity – exactly what enthusiasts around the world expect from Foursquare.

Sovereignty is a blend of rums distilled on both copper double retort pot stills and Foursquare’s continuous column still. This combination provides the best of both worlds: the richness and aromatic complexity of the pot still and the elegance and structure of the column still. The result is a classic single blended rum in true Barbados style.

The rum has been aged for a total of 14 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Ex-bourbon adds vanilla, caramel and rounded sweetness, while ex-sherry adds depth, dark fruit and spicy complexity. The interplay between the casks creates a rum with layer upon layer of aroma and impressive length.

The name Sovereignty refers to Barbados’ republican milestone and marks a proud tribute to the nation’s rum tradition. As Professor Richard Drayton puts it, the time has come to cherish the country’s oldest and most iconic industry – rum – as a national symbol and economic beacon.

Tasting notes

• Aroma: Intense and complex with vanilla, dark caramel, dried fruit and spicy oak, complemented by light sherry notes.
• Flavor: Powerful and concentrated with toffee, roasted nuts, dark chocolate and ripe fruits. Great balance between sweetness, spice and structure.
• Finish: Very long and warming with lingering notes of oak, spice and dark fruit.
