Glenfarclas 70 Year Old Highland Single Malt – An irreplaceable masterpiece of time and patience
Glenfarclas 70 Year Old Highland Single Malt is far more than an exclusive whisky. It is a monument to Scottish craftsmanship, a rarity created over seven decades and a world-class collector’s item. This bottling is for the uncompromising enthusiast, the serious collector and the investor looking for something that can never be recreated.
Distilled on November 20, 1953 and carefully matured in Glenfarclas’ traditional dunnage warehouses, this whisky has been allowed to develop at its own pace. Six different distillery managers have been in charge of the casks over the years, all respecting one fundamental philosophy: time cannot be rushed.
Only 262 bottles have been released globally, placing Glenfarclas 70 Years Old among the rarest and most coveted single malts in the world. It’s a whisky that isn’t just enjoyed – it’s admired, preserved and tells a story that very few get the opportunity to own.
That’s why Glenfarclas 70 years is so special
- Extreme rarity: Only 262 bottles bottled worldwide
- Historical origin: Distilled in 1953 and aged for 70 years
- Barrel ageing: Matured in classic sherry casks
- Traditional ageing: Stored in dunnage warehouses throughout the period
- Family Owned: Created and preserved by the Grant family for generations
- Iconic status: One of the oldest and most significant bottlings from Glenfarclas
Tasting notes
- Color: Deep, polished teak with a warm glow – dark, intense and impressively vibrant despite its age.
- Nose: Elegant and balanced with fine tannins. Notes of stewed fruits, classic Scottish dumpling and a subtle, earthy hint of Speyside peat. Layer upon layer of fruit compote, honeyed malt and ripe complexity.
- Flavor: Full-bodied, luxurious and silky smooth. Dark chocolate, sherried dried fruits and spicy heat meld with deep coffee and rich treacle toffee.
- Finish: Extremely long and lingering with green hues and a subtle whiff of Speyside smoke that lingers long after the last sip.
History of the house
Glenfarclas was officially licensed in 1836 and has been owned and run by the Grant family since 1865. Today, the distillery stands as the oldest family-owned distillery in Speyside and a true icon of Scotch whisky.
Glenfarclas is known for its uncompromising approach to traditional craftsmanship. The boilers are still heated directly with flames – a rare method that produces a stronger and more characterful spirit. All maturation takes place in classic dunnage warehouses and all decisions are still made within the family.
Glenfarclas 70 years old is the culmination of almost 200 years of dedication and respect for the raw material. A living proof of what time, craftsmanship and patience can create when nothing is left to chance.
