Graham’s 2000 Vintage Port – iconic vintage with power, depth and classic elegance

Graham’s 2000 Vintage Port is an impressive and collectible port from one of the Douro Valley’s most famous producers. The 2000 vintage is one of the great declared vintages, and this wine clearly shows why it is considered so special. This is a vintage port with enormous concentration, depth and an almost majestic balance between power and finesse.

This is a port for the discerning wine lover looking for a wine with both intensity and elegance. Graham’s is known for its full-bodied and rich style, and in this vintage you get dark fruit, silky texture and an impressive harmony between sweetness, tannin and freshness.

Graham’s 2000 Vintage Port is made for long ageing and can develop for decades in the cellar. At the same time, it is already a great experience if decanted well before serving. This makes it interesting for both collectors and those who want a special wine for a special occasion.

It’s a great choice for blue cheese, rich desserts with dark chocolate or as an exclusive after-dinner glass. This is Port at its best – intense, complex and with a long, lingering finish.

Tasting notes

The nose is deep and complex with notes of blackcurrant, black cherry, dark plums, chocolate and a hint of spice. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated with massive dark fruit, great sweetness and an impressive structure. The tannins are prominent but ripe and well-integrated, giving the wine great ageing potential. The finish is long, intense and persistent with dark fruit and an elegant spicy finish.

The history of the house

Founded in the early 1820s, Graham’s has since evolved into one of the most iconic houses in Port. The story began when a customer paid his debt with port rather than money. The wine was a huge success, laying the foundation for one of the industry’s most recognized producers.

By the end of the 19th century, Graham’s was already one of the largest and most respected port houses. In 1882, Andrew James Symington joined the business and later the Symington family took over the house. Today, the family plays a central role in the Douro and is responsible for some of the area’s most prestigious wines.

Graham’s is known for its consistent quality and classic style. Legendary wine critic Robert Parker has described the house as one of the most consistent producers of great port in modern times. Each bottle therefore reflects tradition, experience and an uncompromising approach to quality.
