Glenfarclas Family Casks 2001 #3383 – Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 55,1%

Glenfarclas Family Casks 2001 #3383 is a powerful and honest single cask bottling that showcases the distillery’s classic style in its purest form. A Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at natural cask strength of 55.1% – created for the experienced whisky connoisseur seeking depth, character and authenticity.

The whisky was distilled in 2001 and bottled on July 27, 2022 after 20 years of maturation in a 4th fill butt (cask number 3383). This cask type allows the natural complexity of the distillate to emerge, while the sherry influence elegantly supports the flavor profile without dominating. The result is a balanced, intense and nuanced whisky with great finesse.

Only 574 bottles have been released from this cask, making this bottling a coveted limited edition – both for collectors and for those who want a special Glenfarclas experience without compromise. As always in the Family Casks range, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of color.

Tasting notes

The nose opens with light sherry, dried fruit and caramel, followed by notes of nuts, spices and a hint of dark sugar.

The palate is rich and warm with nuances of raisins, milk chocolate, roasted nuts and spicy oak. The alcohol strength adds intensity without overpowering the balance.

The finish is long and pleasantly dry with warm spices, light sherry and elegant cask character that lingers long in the mouth.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining Scottish distilleries that is still family owned. Since 1865, the distillery has been in the hands of the Grant family, when John Grant – originally a cattle farmer – bought Recherlich Farm and Glenfarclas Distillery for just £511.

Today, six generations of whisky craftsmanship are behind every bottle. Glenfarclas is known for its traditional production methods, direct heated copper boilers and uncompromising focus on quality and sherry maturation. The Family Casks range is the family’s own tribute to their casks, their history and their passion for true single malt whisky.
