Holm Oak “The Wizard” Pinot Noir 2022 is the house’s absolute top wine. Here you get a powerful and complex Pinot Noir from the cool Tasmania. The name “The Wizard” is no coincidence. The wine is a true masterpiece with depth, structure and elegance. It is also a tribute to Jack Crawford and his iconic tennis racket from 1933.

The grapes come from Holm Oak’s best parcels in the Tamar Valley. The wine is composed of four carefully selected Pinot Noir clones. This provides an optimal balance between aroma, structure and complexity. Fermentation takes place in open vats with 30% whole clusters. Daily punchdowns are performed to ensure intense color and deep extraction.

After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels. A full 60% of the barrels are new, which adds depth and complexity. The aging also produces a more structured wine with greater body than the house’s classic Pinot Noir. The result is a wine with both power and finesse.

In the glass, the wine appears with a dark ruby red color. The aroma is intense and complex. Notes of black cherries and plums dominate. There are also fine floral nuances and clear notes of French oak.

The taste is big and broad-shouldered. The fruit is concentrated and well-defined. The tannins are medium but distinct and provide structure. The acidity is fresh and balances the fullness of the wine. This is a wine with great ageing potential. It can be stored for at least 10 years.
