Infernal IPS 3 Trinidad Rum 2026 is the third release in the Infernal Personal Selection—a series created for the rum lover who seeks more than just a smooth and uncomplicated rum. Here, it’s all about character, depth, and those subtle, unique nuances that make a rum truly interesting.

IPS stands for Infernal Personal Selection and represents Lina Rafn and Paw Lagermann’s personal selection of rums. The series deliberately ventures into the more complex and character-rich corners of the world of rum, where the distillate, extended aging, and exciting cask combinations are allowed to leave their distinct mark.

IPS 3 was distilled in 2016 at Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL) in Trinidad. The rum began its aging process under tropical conditions in ex-bourbon barrels. It was then transported to Europe, where it spent an additional four years aging in virgin oak and Spanish Moscatel casks.

It is especially the combination of the different casks that gives IPS 3 its intriguing character. The ex-bourbon casks contribute vanilla and caramelized sweetness. The virgin oak adds spices, toasted wood notes, and structure, while the Moscatel casks impart ripe fruit, grapes, raisins, and an elegant, wine-like sweetness.

At 52%, Infernal IPS 3 packs plenty of punch. The alcohol initially delivers a pronounced bite, but the rum quickly opens up in the glass, revealing a far more complex profile with caramel, honey, dried fruit, and warm spices.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Intense and complex with vanilla, brown sugar, dried fruit, and raisins. Orange peel and spicy oak add extra depth.

Taste: Powerful and full-bodied with rich caramel, honey, ripe grapes, and apricot. This is followed by warm spices and lightly toasted notes from the virgin oak barrels.

Finish: Long, warm, and lingering with dried fruit, spicy oak, and an elegant, wine-like sweetness from the Spanish Moscatel casks.
