Heavily Peated – Campbeltown with power

Kilkerran Heavily Peated is distilled at Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd. who have revived the historic Campbeltown style with respect for tradition and focus on quality. This is a whisky where the strong peat smoke is balanced by fruit, malt and a distinctive coastal saltiness.

The name Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic “Cean Loch Cille Chiarain” – the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and where Campbeltown is today. Unlike many Speyside distilleries that bear ‘Glen’ names, Kilkerran celebrates the town’s own history and identity.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Intense peat smoke with notes of campfire, sea salt and smoked malt. Beneath the smoke are citrus, green apples and a hint of vanilla.

Flavor: Powerful and rich with massive smoke, black pepper and maritime notes. Sweet malt, caramel and light fruitiness balance the distinctive peat.

Finish: Long and warm with lingering smoke, salted caramel and a spicy, slightly oily touch that is classic Campbeltown.
