L’Ecole Apogee Pepper Bridge Vineyard 2019

Walla Walla Valley, Washington

An Icon from Walla Walla Valley

L’Ecole Apogee Pepper Bridge Vineyard 2019 is a wine of both power and finesse. It comes from the famous Pepper Bridge Vineyard, one of the most respected sites in Walla Walla Valley, Washington State. Here, sunny days, cool nights, and mineral-rich soils come together to create a wine of remarkable depth, balance, and character.

Apogee showcases how classic Bordeaux varieties can thrive in American terroir. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Malbec, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Together they create harmony, elegance, and vibrant fruit – a wine that speaks to both the senses and the soul.

Tasting Notes – Dark Fruit and Spiced Elegance

In the glass, Apogee reveals a deep ruby color. The aroma bursts with blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark cherry, followed by cedar, graphite, and a touch of pepper. Subtle notes of mocha and toasted oak add warmth and complexity.

On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety. Ripe tannins provide structure, while layers of dark fruit unfold into a long and elegant finish. It’s a wine that balances power and grace – ideal with beef, lamb, game, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 15 years.

The Story of L’Ecole – From Schoolhouse to Wine Icon

L’Ecole No 41 was founded in 1983 by the Ferguson family. The winery is housed in a historic school building, which inspired its name – L’Ecole means “the school” in French.

Now in its third generation, the family continues to focus on craftsmanship, terroir, and sustainability. L’Ecole is LIVE-certified (Low Input Viticulture and Enology), a testament to its commitment to responsible winemaking.

For over four decades, L’Ecole has been a driving force in the evolution of Walla Walla Valley. Apogee stands as a true expression of this dedication – a wine that captures the region’s distinctive character and quality.
