Tasting notes

The history of the house

Montebello is produced at Distillerie Carrère on the western side of the island in the Basse-Terre area of Guadeloupe. The distillery was founded in 1930 and is today known as one of the most traditional rum distilleries on the island.

The distillery grows around 15 hectares of sugar cane, including the Canne Rouge and Canne Jaune varieties. When production requires more raw materials, the distillery collaborates with local farmers around Petit-Bourg. This combination of own fields and local suppliers ensures a rum with distinct local character and authentic terroir.
