Quinta do Noval 40 Year Old Tawny Port – Exclusive and aged port from Douro

Quinta do Noval 40 Year Old Tawny Port is a noble and deeply complex port that represents decades of craftsmanship, patience and experience. This is a top-class port where time has been allowed to shape the character and elegance of the wine through long barrel aging.

This type of port is made for those who love depth, finesse and intense aromatic complexity. A 40-year-old Tawny Port is not a wine from a single vintage, but a carefully crafted blend of many older Ports, with the youngest component of the blend being at least 40 years old. The result is a wine with an incredible balance of ripe fruit, nutty nuances and silky smooth structure.

At Quinta do Noval, the Ports are aged in small oak barrels for decades. This slow oxidation gives the characteristic tawny color and develops an impressive aromatic spectrum where depth and finesse go hand in hand. It’s a port that shows why aged tawny port is among the world’s most elegant dessert wines.

Flavor profile

After more than four decades of barrel aging, this port develops an incredibly refined and complex character.

  • Nose: Intense and elegant with notes of dried fruits, prunes, dates, roasted nuts, caramel and orange peel.
  • Palate: Silky and deep with layers of nuts, dried fruit, caramel, dark chocolate and delicate spices.
  • Finish: Very long, complex and harmonious with warm notes of nuts, toffee and a slightly spicy finish.

Serving and enjoyment

Noval 40 Years Tawny is a port for special moments. It can be enjoyed slightly chilled at around 12-16°C, where the aromas appear most elegant.

This type of port is the perfect end to a great meal and is an excellent accompaniment to:

  • Aged cheeses
  • Nut-based desserts
  • Dark chocolate
  • Crème brûlée
  • As a meditation wine without accompaniments
