Plantation Rum Single Cask 21 Year Old Trinidad 1997-2019 is an exclusive and complex rum, selected as the 10th single cask edition from Eriksen Vinhandel. Distilled at Trinidad Distillers Limited and aged for a full 21 years, this rum combines tropical intensity with refined European barrel aging – and a unique twist from a peated Kilchoman whisky cask.

Distilled in 1997, the rum has undergone an impressive maturation journey: 15.5 years of tropical aging in bourbon barrels in Trinidad, followed by 6 years of continental aging in Ferrand casks in France. To top it off, it’s been aged for a further 4 months in a Kilchoman peated whisky cask, adding a unique smoky and spicy dimension. The dosage is 16 g/L, which rounds out and balances the powerful profile.

The result is a rum with depth, complexity and character – created for the serious rum drinker looking for something out of the ordinary.

Tasting notes

Nose: Very original opening with smoky, peaty and slightly earthy character and black pepper. Develops towards lemon zest, butterscotch and nougat.

Flavor: Rich and complex with a fruity profile of cooked peat, peach and star fruit. Notes of nutmeg, vanilla, macchiato and a touch of malted barley.

Finish: Long and persistent with licorice, pepper and tropical fruits.
