Quevedo Late Bottle Vintage 2018 – Intense and ageable LBV Port from Douro

Quevedo Late Bottle Vintage 2018 is a powerful and characterful LBV Port from Douro – created for those who want the Vintage Port experience without waiting decades. Late Bottled Vintage, LBV for short, was originally developed to give wine lovers access to the deep, concentrated style of a single vintage – but at a more accessible price and with earlier drinking maturity.

Aged 4-6 years in large barrels (balseiros) before bottling in 2023, this LBV 2018 is only lightly filtered, preserving structure and complexity while providing excellent bottle ageing potential. The result is a port with both immediate charm and the ability to evolve beautifully over time.

Quevedo Late Bottle Vintage 2018 is an obvious choice for the cheese table, rich chocolate desserts, nuts or dried fruit. Remember to serve it in a regular wine glass – a good port deserves space to unfold its aromatic depth.

Tasting notes

Color: Dark and almost opaque with a deep ruby red core.

Aroma: Expressive and intense with dominant notes of cherry and blackberry. The dark fruit is accompanied by a subtle note of fig that adds complexity and depth.

Flavor: Rich and velvety with a round and welcoming structure. The cherry and blackberry flavors continue elegantly in the mouth and are complemented by the wine’s natural sweetness (residual sugar 84 g/l). The balance between fruit, sweetness and structure makes it both powerful and harmonious.

Finish: Long and satisfying with persistent dark fruit and silky texture.

The house behind – Quevedo

The Quevedo family has owned vineyards for generations and is based in São João da Pesqueira in the heart of the Douro Valley. In the 1970s and 80s, the family expanded their estate, Quinta da Alegria, and in 1991 they began producing port wine under their own name.

For decades the family supplied grapes to major Port houses such as Taylor (Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman), a testament to the quality of their fields. In 1975, however, they were forced to produce their own wine – a decision that marked the beginning of Quevedo’s independent journey as a Port house.

Today, the family has more than 100 hectares of vineyards. The grapes are picked by hand in small crates in the cool morning hours, and production combines traditional methods with modern precision. With Claudia Quevedo as oenologist and Oscar Jr. at the helm, the house today exports port all over the world and is known for its authentic style and high quality.
