Ridge Vineyards Grenache Blanc 2023

Ridge Vineyards Grenache Blanc 2023 is an exciting and characterful white wine from California with clear inspiration from the Rhône. Here you get a wine with freshness, richness and complexity. The style is elegant and balanced, where fruit and minerality go hand in hand.

The wine is primarily based on Grenache Blanc, which is also the main grape in white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grapes come from selected fields in Paso Robles, an area known for its Rhône-inspired wines. The blend consists of 84% Grenache Blanc, 14% Picpoul and 2% Roussanne, resulting in a wine with both freshness and depth.

The grapes are harvested in October at optimal ripeness. They are pressed as whole bunches on arrival at the winery. Fermentation is done with natural yeast, giving an authentic expression. The wine is aged for 10 months in a combination of American oak, amphora and steel tank. This method creates a great balance between structure, texture and freshness.

In the glass, the wine appears with a beautiful golden color. The aroma is open and inviting. Notes of tropical fruit emerge along with a fresh mineral note. The taste is both complex and vibrant. The ripe fruit is balanced by a fine acidity and an elegant minerality.

Ridge Grenache Blanc 2023 is a versatile wine for many dishes. It pairs perfectly with fish, seafood and light meats. It also works well with Mediterranean and vegetable dishes. A wine with great character and balance.

The history of the house

Ridge Vineyards is one of the most iconic producers in California. Its roots date back to 1885, when Osea Perrone founded the winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Modern success took off with Paul Draper, who significantly elevated the quality and put Ridge on the world map.

Ridge became world famous after the Paris tasting in 1976, where Monte Bello impressed. Today, the winery works according to organic principles with a focus on terroir and quality. Winemaker Eric Baugher carries on the legacy with great success and respect for tradition.
