Taylor’s Golden Age 50 Year Old Tawny Port is an extraordinary and rare port, created from some of the house’s oldest and most valuable barrel aged wines. This impressive 5 liter bottle is a very limited production collector’s edition and represents the essence of Taylor’s most advanced barrel aging.

The wine is composed of carefully selected tawny port wines, each of which has been aged for up to five decades in oak barrels. During this long aging, the wines develop a deep amber color and a complex aromatic profile with notes of nuts, caramel, spices and dried fruit. The slow oxidation in barrel results in a wine with impressive depth and a silky smooth structure.

The grapes come from the eastern part of the Douro Valley, where some of the region’s most prestigious vineyards are located. After harvest, the wines were aged in Taylor’s historic cellars in carefully selected oak barrels. Here, the house experts monitored the development over decades until the wines reached their perfect maturity.

After almost half a century in barrel, the wine has reached its Golden Age – the point where balance, complexity and elegance come together in a harmonious whole. The result is a port with an almost creamy texture, impressive depth and an incredibly long finish.
